In the movie New Moon, Bella’s birthday dress was picked out by Alice who enthusiastically planned an entire birthday evening for a rather reluctant Bella. New Moon costume designer Tish Monaghan told Entertainment Weekly that the custom designed dress “was supposed to be a gift from Alice, so I wanted something pretty that Alice would buy, but also something vintage [looking] that would be appropriate for Bella. We dressed it down with sneakers to keep the Bella flavor.”
