Dirndl Dress pattern
WWII PDF sewing pattern has a split, square necked bodice, puffed sleeves and a banded, full skirt. It's a transitional style from the mid to late 1940s that can be made with bold contrast or in a subtle stripe.
With the end of World War II came "The New Look". The emphasis on conservatism decreased and clothing was made with more feminine lines. Fuller skirts, longer hems and even ruffles (a prior extravagance) are seen. As rationing decreased, seasonal clothing and special occasion wear, once again became popular. The square shoulders and crisp lines inspired by military uniforms would remain for some time, however skirts were beginning to rustle again.
